Movie - Peacock (2010)

If you have never heard of Cillian Murphy, then you are missing out big time. He is in a lot of block buster films and indie films such as 28 Days Later (And the sequel), Batman and Breakfast on Pluto, to name a few). Because of his look (waif, boyish and pretty) and his ability to act and melted into each characters, he has not made it to the household name yet. He is a talent actor and I have been following his career since Breakfast on Pluto. I am secretly happy that he is not a big block buster stars because I can continue following his diverse career path. Oh did I mention that he looks awesome in women outfits?

Peacock is a psychological thriller film that starred Cillian Murphy, Ellen Page and Susan Sarandon along with Josh Lucus and Bill Pullman to name a few. The movie is slow paced but cleverly captured emotions of each character well.

Murphy played two characters in this movie. He is both John and Emma and earlier on in the movie, we found out that John has a split personality disorder (multiple personality disorder). We know right in the beginning that his mother abused him and we all can agree that is the cause of his disorder.

John is a shy, insecure, weak, social awkward man who works at a bank in 1950's. He leads a simple and boring life and is risk adverse, He bike to work every instead of driving and always on time and very reliable. He hardly talk to anyone, loves his candies and very frugal.

Emma is his second personality who wakes up every morning to do his chores and make him breakfast every morning before she turns into John at around 8.45 AM. She would leave notes to John and made him dinner every day. One day something happened in his backyard and John's (or Emma's?) world turn upside down.

I have to say that the movie touches on very interesting issues and we can all related one way or the other. John is a confused and volatile individual which audiences find him very mean and unpleasant. Emma is a totally opposite from John. She is kind, sweet, shy but very confident and lovable. I don't want to give away the end of the movie but I have to say that Murphy did a wonderful job portraits both John and Emma and I like the ending of the movie.

It is not spooky but it is definitely a film that make you guess and think of what will happen next. I love the casts, the costumes and the characters.
